Rating the TV Stand not the Packing By Liz This TV stand is modern and beautiful and that is what I am basing my review on. If I were to base it on the packaging itself and the delivery it would get no stars!!! I'm truly amazed it arrived here in one piece across Canada to Knoxville TN and isn't ruined with such poor protection. I would think Sonax would invest more into that so things don't have to be returned or replaced. They were a couple nicks that luckily were fixable with a black sharpie. Also shame on UPS for their treatment of this package!!!! I was shocked everything wasn't broken as there were work boot tracks from one end to the other, obviously it had been walked on by a grown man as the tracks were complete from toe to heel. I took pictures of the footprints before I even opened the package expecting to have to return it. I love Amazon and shop from them on a regular basis and this is by far the worst package I have ever received!!! Although not the fault of Amazon.As for the TV stand, it looks awesome! It was extremely easy to put together. I am a 40 year old female with a broken foot and managed by myself. I do suggest help as the glass is heavy but it is possible alone. I bought this for a 55" flat screen that has been sitting on my floor unopened for a week. I am excited to gets things set up but I was so furious by the packaging I wanted to write this review before I finished the set up. If you live close to where Sonax is located I highly suggest a purchase from them. Until they invest a little more money in packaging you are taking a gamble it arrives safely. The stand itself is beautiful, and for the price, I'm really surprised at how nice it is. It's exactly what we wanted. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. BUT, the packaging is completely inappropriate for the weight of an item like this. A couple of sections were damaged when we unpacked it. Fortunately, my husband is completely able to make this type of repair, and did, but if you don't happen to have someone near by who can fix and cosmetically hide small dings/dents/gouges, etc., then you would probably end up sending this back. You almost get what you pay for By CT First the positive: All parts were in the box, and all holes were drilled perfectly. The design is clean and contemporary, just what I wanted. The packaging was undamaged and seemed adequate. However, the bottom shelf (thankfully not the top) had a nearly dime-sized hole almost in the center--no idea why. And several of the edges were damaged (scraped). There was no way I would have returned such a huge package. I was lucky that the damage is not all that visible. In my opinion, the backsplash should have been reversed with the white side to the front. My TV weighs 71 lbs. and it seems to support it well enough, though the hole in the bottom shelf makes me wonder how strong this hollow core construction really is. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. That is the Pro's. The Con's are: 1) No specifications on how much weight the shelves will support, no specifications on the height between shelves, and no help from customer service on any of this, 2) The TV support arm leans with the weight of my plasma, not only forward but also to one side, stable who knows, although once situated I plan on anchoring it to the walls, 3) repeated emails to customer service go unanswered, I mean absolutely no response, not to my questions or to my requests for parts. This is a very good looking unit, fits my decor just right, but the lack of Bush's customer service support has soured me on buying anything more from them. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Good but not perfect By J. Mitchell Just got this Bush Furniture TV stand. Using it with a 50" Panasonic Viera. I definitely recommend 2 people available to assemble. I actually got it put together by myself but it took some real sweat and a few tense moments. The black color is very good looking but it will definitely be difficult to keep clean (especially with a dog in the house). The only complaints are that the mounting bracket is very hard to level (side to side) and it leans forward with the weight of the TV (probably no more than 10 degrees or so but it is noticeable). This actually works well when seated but could be an annoyance if you are standing around while watching the TV. The manufacturer needs to either but in a little more reinforcement for the metal arm or put in some sort of adjustments to let you level the TV once mounted. Their are slots on the bracket but these don't allow for very fine adjustment. You should also take care to see how the mounting bracket aligns with your TV. I didn't and only barely had room to fit the power cord into the back of the unit. Dumb mistake but would have been a major hassle to take the TV back off and move the bracket around if the power cord hadn't squeezed into place. The instructions were quite good and I was QUITE PLEASED to see that the manufacturer actually took the time to put all of the various pieces in individually labeled zip bags. I've had experiences before where I had to guess what type of screw/bolt/oddbit was what. No such problem here. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Easy on the eye By Jim I bought this unit for my Samsung LNT4661f LCD tv that I purchased after Christmas. The delivery was right on schedule, delivered by UPS. A word of caution- this box is HEAVY. UPS driver left on my front porch and I had to wrestle it into the house. I was somewhat intimidated by all the parts when I opened the box in preparation for assembling the unit and the assembly 'instructions' are graphics only- no written directions. But the pieces were very well labeled and once I got the hang of the graphics, the assembly went well. Be aware that you'll need at least 2 people to help with the assembly of this unit. The parts include various sizes of bolts that are commonly used by tv manufacturers- you'll only need one size so you'll have plenty of bolts left over for your bolt collection in your tool box. I got the unit successfully assembled and the tv hung. It looks great. A nice way to display my new LCD tv. Another point to be aware of- since the shelves are tempered glass, the manufacturer recommends no more than 25# per shelf. Bottom line is that I'm very satisfied with the purchase. It is a furniture grade look and blends well with my speakers and entertainment system. I am very happy with the product. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Heavy duty stand! By Tina Dugan I bought this stand for my 65" plasma which is heavy. I wanted a stand longer than my tv and be able to support 130ish pounds. there isn't a lot out there unless you want to spend a lot of money. This is rated for 134lbs on top and comes to just under 74". It is heavy duty wood similar to mdf at 1 inch thick. It has the best i can explain is a wood grain type paint or coating that looks nice but have to be careful when assembling because coating is hard and brittle when pressure is applied to screws. The instructions are just pictures and I am familiar with assembly and had to stop a few times and really concentrate on the pictures to make sure i was doing it right other than that it went fine. assembly took about 2 hrs but i was working at a slower pace. The shelves are all rated for 22lbs including the center glass ones. One thing i like is when assembled there is a front bottom board that gets put on that flushes out the gap underneath in front for looks but also for support. I think if the stand ever starts sagging from the weight of tv etc you would not notice it except in back of stand which you wouldn't see. I see so many stands that start warping from weight but this one shouldn't show it at least. We'll see how well it supports the weight in the future since I'll be pushing max weight. With this stand at over 17inches high top of my tv will come to under 60 inches. For my liking this works well but when you have a big tv you don't want it to far off the ground. It was hard to see from pictures but the sides are door enclosed shelving that open from the center out to the side. It will not fit 2 dvd's on top of each other even with the shelves removed so had to stack horizontal for most space but it will hold a lot of dvd's etc just not in a easy access manner but it hides them away and brings out a finished look with them being concealed. also The shelves are only adjustable maybe 2 inches up and down from center but from what i needed it to do it has accepted all my electronics. My a/v receiver comes close to not fitting when shelf is set to center so you might want to give it more space for cooling. otherwise so far I am really happy with stand. I also opted not to put on the handles for the doors since i think it looks better and you can't really tell they are doors and can still open them easy with out them. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. For the price you pay, don't expect it to be a stand of BDI or a Salamander quality. If you do not like MDF boards, move on. Assembly is easy. I am most impressed with how precise the boards and drill holes are cut. All pieces fit together nicely and I don't find the assembling process difficult. As the other reviewer has noted, make sure your A/V receivers or other components fit in the openings. The wood grain decoration layer is a relatively thin. So beware of chipping it. It currently houses a 27" standard tube set, but that leaves me room for some books on one end and my PlayStation 2 on the other. The center area has one adjustable shelf with enough room for a large Sony receiver, TiVo, DVD recorder and a DVD-changer. Behind each door is another shelf, suitable for DVDs or PS2 games and accessories.I don't know if I would put a 34" widescreen tube TV on this unit though. Easy assembly, good for the price By Vedura This stand is very easy to assemble, comes with great directions, but the cords do not hide easily and, especially if you have pets, you will be dusting continuously. The glossy black shows every speck. Most of the ads that I've seen for this stand state 'three glass shelves'. There is one clear glass shelf in the middle, and two glossy black shelves (not glass) on top and bottom, which is probably good, makes the stand more sturdy. By Old Style It came with a little dent, went to together in about 10 min. but i would not recommend, the glass feels like it will break when you put anything on it. The coffee table itself just doesn't seem well made. The legs and frame don't line up perfectly so there are gaps where the legs are attached to the table. The thing that really teed me off is (besides the fact the matching end-table had the same crack in the same place) is while tightening one of the cam-locks, it broke in half! It's supposed to be metal, but it is some type of alloy that has the strength of a twig. It cost me a trip to Home Depot to fix that little adventure. It seems that the doors for the left right and center compartments at the bottom of the stand would be wood and glass, but its plastic and looks ugly. The wood quality is not good either. Compared to the mainstays corrugated wood stands, this one is a low quality wood, that chips off from the edges. The door for the center drawer draws up and slides inside on two slots, however the piece I received was defective and the slots were on the rear side instead of the front of the stand and I could not assemble it. The assembly instructions are vague, and it took me a lot of time to understand which piece goes where. Instead of having cam nuts, they have wooden chips that must be glued to into the various holes provided. I assembled the product half way through, and it took me around 2 hours to get there and finally found out that the slots were in the wrong direction. The thickness of the TV stand is not as much, so if you are planning to place the TV and a sound bar, speakers or a gaming console camera on it this is not the right product. Overall, the product lacks quality, elegance and finishing. I returned this product and bought a Mainstays TV Stand ([...]) for $79 which is just $12 dollars more than this TV stand but is very good in terms of elegance, space, assembly instructions and dimensions. The TV is now at a perfect viewing height with this one-shelf stand. My Paradigm C-5 centerchannel fits like a glove without its foot pedestals. A very hard stand to find for a large TV, the TV has a 4" overlap on both sides but looks fine when put together. Black glass is a must upgrade from the clear so that everything blends, the black frame matches the glass and the black glass also helps to conceal wires that run underneath the open cabinet design. It looks great, matches the Black of my 50" Panasonic Plasma great along with my Left and Right speakers and stands. The Swivel mount works good. Makes it a little easier when you need to get behind your HDTV. Not a huge need to swivel with a Plasma since the viewing angle is so wide. It's also quite a heavy stand!!! It holds a lot also. A Negative is because it's Gloss Black, it does collect a lot of dust easily. Hanging my Plasma on the wall wasn't a option for me. I also didn't want my Plasma sitting on top of a Glass Shelf. I've seen pictures of what happens when the shelf shatters even though the Rated weight rating was much higher then the HDTV and yet still shattered. I like the look of it up in the Air. The center support blocks the view of any wires, which for me is the power cable and a single HDMI cable. It also allowed me to place the center speaker right under the center of my HDTV with it up in the Air like it is. It is adjustable Up and down, not real easily, but possible. I have mine mounted up to the second to last top hole. This allowed me to fit the speaker under the HDTV, have it at a nice viewing height which if I had just used the Stand my Plasma came with and sat it on the top shelf would have been way to LOW to view. I'm about 7 feet from my screen and even when I'm fully reclined I can still see the screen fully without even my feet blocking the screen. I've seen other HDTV stands with these type of center lift mounts but most are pretty flimsy feeling to me. Not fully part of the stand where you can remove it and not use it if you like. Not this one. It's Part of the stand. It's bolted on. It's wide and strong. There's no give, no sway, it's solid. There's a bolt kit, with lots of different bolts to fit just about any HDTV, Plasma or LCD made to fit this stand. I popped the caps off the back of my Panasonic Plasma, Installed the 2 Brackets with the Included/Correct bolts, and lifted it onto the Stand mount, then screwed up the lock bolts to keep it from somehow being knocked off. There are more than a 100 pieces in this box. Nails, glue, dowels, screws, .. just about anything you can think of is in here. If you make any kind of error while assembling it, just kiss your money goodbye: We didn't pound the glued dowels down far enough and as a result, when we put the fiberboard/laminate on the dowels, they poked obscene holes in the top of the stand. To add insult to injury, the top glass ships with warning stickers affixed which take a small miracle to remove. They are glued securely and will not come off in one piece no matter how hard you try - so get some rubbing alcohol to remove the residue. The left and right doors are a complete nightmare to get on right. Once built, I'd caution you NOT to put the back board on until you get your components plugged up - it takes more than 20 screws to affix the back board. Adding a component to your set-up will require that you pull your amp out of whatever hole you stuffed it in in order to turn it around to see where to plug in each component. Make sure to leave about 2 feet of extra wire for anything that might need to be pulled (like the amp). Wires that need to snake vertically between components must exit the rear and make their way back in.None of the shelves have ventilation above or below. Ventilation for the shelves behind the glass doors relies only on the cable holes in the back. Perhaps it goes without saying but the space between the top glass and the top of the box just below it is impossible to keep dust-free.Generally, I'd say it's not worth the money.
