Combs I purchased the Narita Corner TV Stand (made by Southern Enterprises, Inc., model MS987100TX) through Amazon.com from totally Furniture on Feb 8, 2009. The stand was purchased to hold a Sony 46 Inch, Z Series LCD television, with the intent of using the inner storage space for components (Combination DVD Recorder/Player/VCR, and future Blue Ray Recorder/Player, along with media) The space is ample for those purposes. I am using little woven baskets inside the cabinet to hold the media on the shelves, which is working out well. The material of the cabinet is man-made "engineered" wood product, of extremely high quality. It looks virtually like fine wood, and is solid (not veneered) construction. It has anchors pre-installed from the factory that receive the Allen screws. The fit and finish of all pieces is excellent. The cabinet requires about 2 hours to assemble, taking your time, to get everything perfect. When completed, you cannot tell it was assembled, and looks like it was purchased in any fine furniture store. It is very strong, sturdy, very heavy. This tand would easily handle a 50 inch flat screen TV, or even larger, so far as weight goes, and the overhang would not be noticable, since it is a corner TV stand. (But could be used for a regular wall, and is finshed on the back) The design and construction of this product is remarkable, and will meet most people's expectations. One thing that I had not thought about was how the wood cross-hatch design of the doors would affect signals from the IR Remotes to the components inside, with the doors closed. This has turned out not to be a problem, and the components work fine with the doors closed. (Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder with VCR combo) Side note. One piec was damaged when I performed assembly. (Cam-lock piece that holds the top in place on one corner) I requested a replacement from SEI thorugh their e-mail address for support on lost, missing or broken parts, but never received a reply. It was not a critical component, and doesn't show (it's only to secure the top, which is also secured by other fasteners), so I dropped the matter. If you buy this stand, be careful not to use too much force on the Cam-lock part. It is rather soft pot-metal, and will easily bend instead of going properly into place. That was my problem. Glenn C. It was fairly easy to assemble, but took a couple of hours. The instructions are in the form of a diagram with no written instructions. Excellent High-quality stand By S. McIntosh This is an excellent, high-quality stand. I am really impressed with the build quality of the components. The instructions were easy to follow and it took maybe an hour to put together. Once assembled, this is a very sturdy piece of furniture. I really like that you can adjust the height of your panel and swivel (very smooth btw). Also, the panel mounting bracket is quite ingenious and makes it easy to mount and remove, though you do need 2 people. Although they say this is rated to 47", I have a 50" Panasonic plasma mounted on mine and it is well within the weight limit. The gloss black shelving and uprights perfectly compliment the plasma cabinet. I went for the brushed aluminum inserts for a contemporary look and they really pop. Appearance differs from photos, otherwise recommended (updated) By Jeff Pittman (I bought this from another vendor and posted this same review there) I put this together alone today (57 yr old male) and had no trouble. You do need two people to move the box but if you cut it open, you can manage the individual pieces by yourself. Assembly is pretty painless overall (not that I enjoyed it or anything!). The instructions are mostly visual and can be vague at points - be sure to pay attention to what parts face the front of the cabinet (they should all be black) and which face the rear (they are all exposed particle board). If you are looking at your partially assembled unit from what you think is the front and you see any exposed particle board, stop and study the instructions carefully. You can easily install some components backward and they will fit just fine, unfortunately. The later you realize your mistake, the more undo/redo you have to do. The bottom slab of particle board is thicker and heavier than the top slab - I wasn't sure which was which and was hesitant to go further until I felt sure of myself. Pay attention to the not-altogether-clear indications in the photos showing the orientation of the grooves in the bottom and top slabs (they both should be on the front of the cabinet). On my unit, the wood trim pieces at either side of the cabinet are a very, very dark cherry color, so dark that they look black unless you're looking at them closely in relatively bright light. I like them better than those shown in the online photos. Also, the drawing of the cabinet showing dimensions suggests that these are grooved and look like a series of vertical slats attached to each other to make a curve. Mine are perfectly smooth, and I like that better too. My unit was very well packed and arrived with a couple of very minor dings hardly worth mentioning. It feels very sturdy and looks very good once assembled. I had looked at higher-end stuff (4x the price) and yes, it looked better - but not nearly that much better! This was a good purchase and a good value. If it had casters it would be perfect. Updated 9/11/2011 If you're going to have a lot of heavy equipment on it do yourself a favor and brace the bottom center a little better, maybe with a short stack of leftover tiles, before you load it up. I was disappointed that it arrived with a few scratches, a broken foot and assembly was somewhat difficult. The assembly is difficult because each rod has to line up perfectly for the visible screws on the top to fit into their notches. After 45 minutes of trying to make this happen, I gave up and several of the screws are not flush with the surface top. I gave this three stars b/c it is sturdy and looks nice despite the minor scratches and screws sticking up on the top. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great instructions with alphabetized hardware and components. The shelf space dimensions allow for larger components. My Onkyo TX-SR805 a/v reciever fit with room to spare on the bottom shelf.
