However, I ran into a major problem during constuction. Some of the screws provided were too short. After fooling around for over an hour trying to get the screws to work, we finally went to 2 different hardware stores to find longer screws that would work. After being put together, the stand looks good and I was able to put my Onkyo receiver on it. However there was not enough room to hold my center channel speaker. By Charles Savage First of all the product arrives in 2 boxes, one weighing in at 80lbs, the other about 30. There are four black tempered glass sheets, two large (top and bottom) and two small the two middle shelves. 'Each' of the upright cylinders are made of metal, and once built is very solid. Assembling the table is very simple, even if the instructions are small and very simple, it goes together quickly. About the hardest part in assembling the unit is removing the protective film from each piece. On purchase it was said to be delivered in 7-10 days, it arrived in 3, thankfully. I wanted it before the TV arrived, and I just finished building it. More to come when the TV arrives. Edit: Feb 12th, 2008 -- My TV has since arrived, the Pioneer KURO PDP-6010FD 60" 1080p Plasma HDTV, and it fits quite nicely on the table. The table is quite sturdy and doesn't seem overburdened by the TV which weighs in at about 140lbs. I wanted to add a bit about the dimensions of the shelves, since that might influence buyers. There are three central shelves seen in the picture. The bottom two are the same dimensions at: H: 5 3/4" W: 25 3/8" (18 1/4" pole to pole, ie the space your component would have to fit in sliding in from the front) D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole) The top shelf has the same Width and Depth as the bottom two the height is: H: 6 7/8" There is an optional plate along the back from top to bottom behind the three shelves, for apparently hiding your cables; which prevents easy access to the backs of your components, but I did note that it is optional and doesn't provide any support so could be easily removed if you desired. The two large speaker bookshelf compartments to either side of the three shelves are the same in size measuring: H: 19 1/16" W: 10 1/8" (the 2 inner shelves protrude into the space) D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole) Overall with the large screen atop it, black in color with the black stand, the table is an attractive compliment to the TV. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Just Beautiful By Pat This arrived about a week after I ordered it and it's just a gorgeous, very well-made piece of furniture. In addition, it was incredibly easy to put together by myself - no help - and I'm a 64 yr old woman.Only problem was when I couldn't get the doors to stay in:the directions forget to say "return to upright position before inserting doors."No problem. So why only a 4? My DVD recorder fit UNTIL I connected those white/yellow/red connectors. THEN the machine jutted out about an inch too far to close the doors! I had to get my little saw out and cut an additional hole in the back so they'd stick out the back. Easy to do, but shouldn't have been necessary if they'd either increase the depth by an inch or two, or make the back with some perforated "holes" one could just punch out if needed. It's possibly a little difficult to tell from the photographs, but the steel frame has a nice semigloss enamel covering. With reasonable care, it doesn't look like the finish will nick off. It comes well-packed in a single carton, weighing nearly 100 pounds. All parts are embedded in custom-molded polystyrene foam. Be aware that you'll have a LOT of foam to discard. Once you wrestle the box into your domicile, individual parts are light. A small-framed person might wish to have a helper for the three glass shelves. Assembly instructions are simple and reasonably clear. Anyone with the slightest bit of mechanical aptitude should be able to put this stand together in under an hour. While quite solid mechanically, I did have one bolt that didn't grip its specified hole. There doesn't appear to be any warping. Instead, I believe the hole wasn't quite properly tapped. There's enough redundant support that I'm not going to worry about it. One small complaint. The framework is comprised of hollow steel pieces. Depending on your listening levels and choice of listening material, there's some chance that this frame could resonate slightly. The very best frames would fill those areas with bags of sand or some other damping material. This is a minor problem at worst. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great Product! By Ronald Keuler I think that this product is outstanding for the price. The steel frame has a high quality high gloss finish, and the glass shelves are tinted and coated on the bottom side. On the back there are wire troughs provided to hide wires. The front feet of the stand are adjustable for leveling. Assembly went very well, as all parts were present, and mounting holes were accurate. The fasteners to assemble the stand require an Allen type wrench (supplied, but using it is painfully slow,) so I cut the end of the supplied Allen wrench off and installed it in my cordless screwdriver with a chuck to quickly install the bolts. Final tightening was done by hand with another wrench of the same size. This reduced the assembly time greatly. Assembly was quite easy. It took as long to unpack the stand as to assemble it. The stand was packed very well for shipping and arrived in perfect condition. When looking at the different Bush model stands, take note that there are a few different models that provide different lengths of the same type of stand to provide exactly what you need. Even though stands are rated for (up to) a certain size TV, they are not all the same length. I purchased this model of stand because I only had enough room for a 48" length stand for the location that I had available. I'm very impressed with the quality of this stand and ease of assembly, so gave it a 5 star rating. I didn't even want to know what the process was going to be to fix that issue, nor did I want to wait for another one. So, it definitely took two people to put it together. I have never encountered a piece of furniture that was so hard to put together. If you are not careful moving the parts around the surface scratches VERY easily! Totally not worth your time or money. Mann Suffered through the horrible 100+ degrees of Louisiana summer and now see the light of day that fall is soon to arrive. Fall ALWAYS makes me want to redecorate but sometimes the lack of money makes it impossible. So, I browsed many sites for reasonable priced furniture for guest rooms that grandaughter and grandson will use when here for holidays. I stumbled across the South Shore furniture and was quite skeptical. I had to convince myself that for that little bit of money, I was getting a semi-quality product and one that was not a horrible experience to put together. Well, let me tell you, I ordered 5 pieces and so far have put together 3, one of which was the South Shore Step One Collection TV Stand in chocolate. Oh my.....what a gorgeous piece of furniture!!!! and easy, easy, easy to put together. I then put together the two other pieces and am in heaven because this furniture is fantastic. I had read reviews from others, some good, some bad. I am fully onboard with the positive side of this company and this particular collection. If you have needs similar to mine and are trying to remodel without breaking the bank DO NOT HESITATE to purchase this furniture. First, when I took out all the pieces, one of the shelves was cracked. It is a noticeable crack, but not worth sending back such a massive package over. Second, the assembly instructions were about a 9th generation copy, and the diagrams were impossible to read. To top it off, not all the pieces were labeled, so this tv stand took me over 3 hours to put together, when with proper instructions, it should have only taken me 1/2 that long. Centipede Gaming Hub By DJ Deathwish When I pulled the pieces out of the box, this gaming center really didn't look like much. I am very happy to say though that it turned out to be a great little entertainment center. It looks cheap in pieces, but once assembled, it is incredibly sturdy and well constructed. I thought the steel legs may bend, but I was way off. It was really easy to construct with just a screwdriver and about half an hour of my time. It looks really nice too, so aesthetically speaking, this hub is also well done. I really like this and that said, I do have some small gripes. There are six controller hooks, but room for eight, and frankly eight makes sense since that would be the amount of controllers used locally for two consoles. There are only slots for 12 games as well, not too big a deal but I don't know a single gamer who only owns 12 games. Also, you can only stand up a 360 or PS3 on the shelves. There is no way to lay down your console. These are small gripes like I said because I like the hub as a whole, but for me it isn't perfect. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I found I was having to bend the metal bars in order to fit it to the screw slots and on one shelf I wasn't able to fit one of the screws into the slot because the alignment of the metal bar and the shelf were about half an inch off. I decided to just overlook it because I was able to fit the other 3 screws just fine. The controller holders just sit on a metal bar. I understand that they are free moving to accommodate different controller sizes, but I wish there was some way to fix them to one specific spot. I found several reviews of this item and only a few negative so I purchased. The item arrive damaged, and when I requested a replacement part, I got a recording listing dozens of unavailable replacements parts (not for my item, but greatly reducing my faith in the company altogether), and after waiting several days, finally got a response from customer service that no replacement parts were available for my item either! They told me to return...now I have to figure out how to repack & reship this huge box that weighs a ton...what a pain!!! I'll never deal with this company again...spend the extra money and buy some real furniture! Or go to WalMart...I'm replacing a huge Sauder entertainment center I bought & put together myself in less than an hour about 15 years ago--wayyyyy better quality than this stuff and probably less money! 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. By vplite I was looking for a stand to mount my new 52" Sony LCD, and this item from Amazon looked sharp and had a good price. A tip of my hat to the reviewer who assembled this in 1 hour - it took me closer to 3, but admittedly I am no handyman. It did take two people to mount the TV once the stand was mostly assembled, but I guess with some imagination a person could do it alone. I would not want to risk damaging my new $1500 TV. Since I know my limitations, I took my time, read the directions carefully, with very few missteps. The extra hardware included would make it possible to mount virtually any kind of flat panel TV; LCD or plasma. I've seen it advertised for a mount for a 46" TV, but my 52" looks great, and this stand is heavy and solid enough to support a TV several inches larger. The metal and fiberboard top is pained a shiny black, and the finish really does look like it could be on a piano. The glass shelves offer plenty of room and sturdiness for any components you might want to add, and the horizontal swivel is a big plus. There are of a variety of mounting heights. The bottom of my TV is the minimum 24" off the floor, but it could have gone about a foot higher. The price does fluctuate. Glass Shelves have a lot of deflection By J. A. Grib The pruduct looks nice with nothing on the shelves, solidly supports the TV, and was not diffucult to put together. My problem with the product is the two glass shelves. Both deflect (sag) at the center of the shelf. This occures slightly under their own weight, but set a cable box on one and stereo reciever on another as I have, and this deflection is obvious and can be seen across the room. Each shelf is rated for 65 lb, I would guess that I have less than 10 lb on each and am experiencing this problem. Center While the quality of the item seems above the norm, customer service from this company is dreadful. My new equipment sat around in boxes waiting for a replacement for a damaged shelf that was delayed, then delayed again, by mix-ups on the company's part. Their refusal to budge an inch from their standard process, even though it meant further delay for a very unhappy consumer who had gotten tired of run-arounds and excuses, is a far cry from the real customer service I've experienced elsewhere. Lo and behold Amazon had it for a most reasonable price including shipping and what a deal!! Since I had an account with Amazon I ordered the unit and it arrived in 5 days! I set it up and it was pretty easy too. My daughter loves it along with her new Sony 46" flat, new FIOS HD TV package, new Sony PS3, and her Toshiba A2 HD DVD player. If you don't want to wall mount your flat-panel TV, this stand is solid choice. It makes your HDTV "stand out" from the typical pedestal stand as it "suspends" the flat-panel TV in mid-air. I researched this stand on the manufacturer's website at [...] before buying. It's very strong and sturdy and "suspends" my brand new 50" Plasma in mid-air giving it a "WOW" factor. The TV bracket can hold up to 125 lbs. and the two black tempered-glass shelves can hold up to 80 lbs. for your home theater sound system, etc. Remember the black glass attracts dust but I usually cover my plasma tv and the shelves until "showtime" so it's NO big deal. Farrow My wife wanted a TV stand that looked like "real furniture" and I needed something strong enough and deep enough to hold my big Pioneer receiver. After much searching we settled on the Techcraft BAY4828. The product is a mix of laminated fiberboard with a few pieces of laminated wood where it's needed such as with the top TV stand part. The door hinges are solid and the glass on the doors is tempered. The one we received is a fair amount darker than the pictures but luckily it still fits nicely in with the room and our other furniture. Overall assembly was easy and took about 2 hours. I've put together quite a few of these "IKEA" like build your own things and this one went together a bit easier than most. One flaw with the instructions was with how the hinges and doors fit in. I spent quite a bit of time looking for some non-existent pieces. Luckily the screw holes for the hinges were clearly marked so I just screwed them in. Everything lined up and it works fine. Overall the instructions were fairly easy to follow. Perfect for soundbars By Jamie We've been looking for the perfect cabinet since switching to a soundbar audio system. This is it. Soundbar fit perfectly under the top with plenty of room below for our components. As others have said, it is a bit darker than pictured (in a good way). The manufacturer's website has a picture that's closer. Very solid, heavy build. Lots of solid wood used, including the gorgeous top piece. Assembly went fine. Very impressed with the quality of the door hinges. Like something you'd see in kitchen cabinets, not assemble yourself TV stands. Davis I bought this after a broken TV forced me to upgrade to a flat screen. Our existing entertainment center would not work but this was perfect. There are 6 shelves for your entertainment components (Cable box, Aux, Video Game Consoles). Many of the TV stands I looked at were made of particle board or covered in plastic veneer. This does have some MDF board (Shelves, sides bottom of the inside of the cabinet. However, the parts that are visible are solid hardwood. The top is all one piece hardwood with beautiful grain. The legs are solid wood and the glass doors are pained in wood. I am very impressed with the size and height. Many of the TV stands I have seen are very short. This one measures in at about 30 inches tall. The only issue I have with it is the color. It looks darker in person than in the picture. The color is described as "Walnut" but it is much more like a deep cherry stain in person. It is sturdy and looks like you paid more for it. See all 26 customer reviews...
