Combs I purchased the Narita Corner TV Stand (made by Southern Enterprises, Inc., model MS987100TX) through Amazon.com from totally Furniture on Feb 8, 2009. The stand was purchased to hold a Sony 46 Inch, Z Series LCD television, with the intent of using the inner storage space for components (Combination DVD Recorder/Player/VCR, and future Blue Ray Recorder/Player, along with media) The space is ample for those purposes. I am using little woven baskets inside the cabinet to hold the media on the shelves, which is working out well. The material of the cabinet is man-made "engineered" wood product, of extremely high quality. It looks virtually like fine wood, and is solid (not veneered) construction. It has anchors pre-installed from the factory that receive the Allen screws. The fit and finish of all pieces is excellent. The cabinet requires about 2 hours to assemble, taking your time, to get everything perfect. When completed, you cannot tell it was assembled, and looks like it was purchased in any fine furniture store. It is very strong, sturdy, very heavy. This tand would easily handle a 50 inch flat screen TV, or even larger, so far as weight goes, and the overhang would not be noticable, since it is a corner TV stand. (But could be used for a regular wall, and is finshed on the back) The design and construction of this product is remarkable, and will meet most people's expectations. One thing that I had not thought about was how the wood cross-hatch design of the doors would affect signals from the IR Remotes to the components inside, with the doors closed. This has turned out not to be a problem, and the components work fine with the doors closed. (Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder with VCR combo) Side note. One piec was damaged when I performed assembly. (Cam-lock piece that holds the top in place on one corner) I requested a replacement from SEI thorugh their e-mail address for support on lost, missing or broken parts, but never received a reply. It was not a critical component, and doesn't show (it's only to secure the top, which is also secured by other fasteners), so I dropped the matter. If you buy this stand, be careful not to use too much force on the Cam-lock part. It is rather soft pot-metal, and will easily bend instead of going properly into place. That was my problem. Glenn C. It was fairly easy to assemble, but took a couple of hours. The instructions are in the form of a diagram with no written instructions. Excellent High-quality stand By S. McIntosh This is an excellent, high-quality stand. I am really impressed with the build quality of the components. The instructions were easy to follow and it took maybe an hour to put together. Once assembled, this is a very sturdy piece of furniture. I really like that you can adjust the height of your panel and swivel (very smooth btw). Also, the panel mounting bracket is quite ingenious and makes it easy to mount and remove, though you do need 2 people. Although they say this is rated to 47", I have a 50" Panasonic plasma mounted on mine and it is well within the weight limit. The gloss black shelving and uprights perfectly compliment the plasma cabinet. I went for the brushed aluminum inserts for a contemporary look and they really pop. Appearance differs from photos, otherwise recommended (updated) By Jeff Pittman (I bought this from another vendor and posted this same review there) I put this together alone today (57 yr old male) and had no trouble. You do need two people to move the box but if you cut it open, you can manage the individual pieces by yourself. Assembly is pretty painless overall (not that I enjoyed it or anything!). The instructions are mostly visual and can be vague at points - be sure to pay attention to what parts face the front of the cabinet (they should all be black) and which face the rear (they are all exposed particle board). If you are looking at your partially assembled unit from what you think is the front and you see any exposed particle board, stop and study the instructions carefully. You can easily install some components backward and they will fit just fine, unfortunately. The later you realize your mistake, the more undo/redo you have to do. The bottom slab of particle board is thicker and heavier than the top slab - I wasn't sure which was which and was hesitant to go further until I felt sure of myself. Pay attention to the not-altogether-clear indications in the photos showing the orientation of the grooves in the bottom and top slabs (they both should be on the front of the cabinet). On my unit, the wood trim pieces at either side of the cabinet are a very, very dark cherry color, so dark that they look black unless you're looking at them closely in relatively bright light. I like them better than those shown in the online photos. Also, the drawing of the cabinet showing dimensions suggests that these are grooved and look like a series of vertical slats attached to each other to make a curve. Mine are perfectly smooth, and I like that better too. My unit was very well packed and arrived with a couple of very minor dings hardly worth mentioning. It feels very sturdy and looks very good once assembled. I had looked at higher-end stuff (4x the price) and yes, it looked better - but not nearly that much better! This was a good purchase and a good value. If it had casters it would be perfect. Updated 9/11/2011 If you're going to have a lot of heavy equipment on it do yourself a favor and brace the bottom center a little better, maybe with a short stack of leftover tiles, before you load it up. I was disappointed that it arrived with a few scratches, a broken foot and assembly was somewhat difficult. The assembly is difficult because each rod has to line up perfectly for the visible screws on the top to fit into their notches. After 45 minutes of trying to make this happen, I gave up and several of the screws are not flush with the surface top. I gave this three stars b/c it is sturdy and looks nice despite the minor scratches and screws sticking up on the top. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. After being put together, the stand looks good and I was able to put my Onkyo receiver on it. However there was not enough room to hold my center channel speaker. By Charles Savage First of all the product arrives in 2 boxes, one weighing in at 80lbs, the other about 30. There are four black tempered glass sheets, two large (top and bottom) and two small the two middle shelves. 'Each' of the upright cylinders are made of metal, and once built is very solid. Assembling the table is very simple, even if the instructions are small and very simple, it goes together quickly. About the hardest part in assembling the unit is removing the protective film from each piece. On purchase it was said to be delivered in 7-10 days, it arrived in 3, thankfully. I wanted it before the TV arrived, and I just finished building it. More to come when the TV arrives. Edit: Feb 12th, 2008 -- My TV has since arrived, the Pioneer KURO PDP-6010FD 60" 1080p Plasma HDTV, and it fits quite nicely on the table. The table is quite sturdy and doesn't seem overburdened by the TV which weighs in at about 140lbs. I wanted to add a bit about the dimensions of the shelves, since that might influence buyers. There are three central shelves seen in the picture. The bottom two are the same dimensions at: H: 5 3/4" W: 25 3/8" (18 1/4" pole to pole, ie the space your component would have to fit in sliding in from the front) D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole) The top shelf has the same Width and Depth as the bottom two the height is: H: 6 7/8" There is an optional plate along the back from top to bottom behind the three shelves, for apparently hiding your cables; which prevents easy access to the backs of your components, but I did note that it is optional and doesn't provide any support so could be easily removed if you desired. The two large speaker bookshelf compartments to either side of the three shelves are the same in size measuring: H: 19 1/16" W: 10 1/8" (the 2 inner shelves protrude into the space) D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole) Overall with the large screen atop it, black in color with the black stand, the table is an attractive compliment to the TV. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Just Beautiful By Pat This arrived about a week after I ordered it and it's just a gorgeous, very well-made piece of furniture. In addition, it was incredibly easy to put together by myself - no help - and I'm a 64 yr old woman.Only problem was when I couldn't get the doors to stay in:the directions forget to say "return to upright position before inserting doors."No problem. So why only a 4? My DVD recorder fit UNTIL I connected those white/yellow/red connectors. THEN the machine jutted out about an inch too far to close the doors! I had to get my little saw out and cut an additional hole in the back so they'd stick out the back. Easy to do, but shouldn't have been necessary if they'd either increase the depth by an inch or two, or make the back with some perforated "holes" one could just punch out if needed. It's possibly a little difficult to tell from the photographs, but the steel frame has a nice semigloss enamel covering. With reasonable care, it doesn't look like the finish will nick off. It comes well-packed in a single carton, weighing nearly 100 pounds. All parts are embedded in custom-molded polystyrene foam. Be aware that you'll have a LOT of foam to discard. Once you wrestle the box into your domicile, individual parts are light. A small-framed person might wish to have a helper for the three glass shelves. Assembly instructions are simple and reasonably clear. Anyone with the slightest bit of mechanical aptitude should be able to put this stand together in under an hour. While quite solid mechanically, I did have one bolt that didn't grip its specified hole. There doesn't appear to be any warping. Instead, I believe the hole wasn't quite properly tapped. There's enough redundant support that I'm not going to worry about it. One small complaint. The framework is comprised of hollow steel pieces. Depending on your listening levels and choice of listening material, there's some chance that this frame could resonate slightly. The very best frames would fill those areas with bags of sand or some other damping material. This is a minor problem at worst. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great Product! By Ronald Keuler I think that this product is outstanding for the price. The steel frame has a high quality high gloss finish, and the glass shelves are tinted and coated on the bottom side. On the back there are wire troughs provided to hide wires. The front feet of the stand are adjustable for leveling. Assembly went very well, as all parts were present, and mounting holes were accurate. The fasteners to assemble the stand require an Allen type wrench (supplied, but using it is painfully slow,) so I cut the end of the supplied Allen wrench off and installed it in my cordless screwdriver with a chuck to quickly install the bolts. Final tightening was done by hand with another wrench of the same size. This reduced the assembly time greatly. Assembly was quite easy. It took as long to unpack the stand as to assemble it. The stand was packed very well for shipping and arrived in perfect condition. When looking at the different Bush model stands, take note that there are a few different models that provide different lengths of the same type of stand to provide exactly what you need. Even though stands are rated for (up to) a certain size TV, they are not all the same length. I purchased this model of stand because I only had enough room for a 48" length stand for the location that I had available. I'm very impressed with the quality of this stand and ease of assembly, so gave it a 5 star rating. I didn't even want to know what the process was going to be to fix that issue, nor did I want to wait for another one. So, it definitely took two people to put it together. Mann Suffered through the horrible 100+ degrees of Louisiana summer and now see the light of day that fall is soon to arrive. Fall ALWAYS makes me want to redecorate but sometimes the lack of money makes it impossible. So, I browsed many sites for reasonable priced furniture for guest rooms that grandaughter and grandson will use when here for holidays. I stumbled across the South Shore furniture and was quite skeptical. I had to convince myself that for that little bit of money, I was getting a semi-quality product and one that was not a horrible experience to put together. Well, let me tell you, I ordered 5 pieces and so far have put together 3, one of which was the South Shore Step One Collection TV Stand in chocolate. Oh my.....what a gorgeous piece of furniture!!!! and easy, easy, easy to put together. I then put together the two other pieces and am in heaven because this furniture is fantastic. I had read reviews from others, some good, some bad. I am fully onboard with the positive side of this company and this particular collection. If you have needs similar to mine and are trying to remodel without breaking the bank DO NOT HESITATE to purchase this furniture. Good Item, Not So Great Shipping By Rebecca L Avery Overall, I like this product. It supports my 100 pound tv with ease, and seems like a sturdy piece of furniture. Item arrived 5 days after ordering, as was delivered to my front door, even living on the 2nd floor. The 3 stars rating was given for 2 reasons. First, when I took out all the pieces, one of the shelves was cracked. It is a noticeable crack, but not worth sending back such a massive package over. Second, the assembly instructions were about a 9th generation copy, and the diagrams were impossible to read. To top it off, not all the pieces were labeled, so this tv stand took me over 3 hours to put together, when with proper instructions, it should have only taken me 1/2 that long. Centipede Gaming Hub By DJ Deathwish When I pulled the pieces out of the box, this gaming center really didn't look like much. I am very happy to say though that it turned out to be a great little entertainment center. It looks cheap in pieces, but once assembled, it is incredibly sturdy and well constructed. I thought the steel legs may bend, but I was way off. It was really easy to construct with just a screwdriver and about half an hour of my time. It looks really nice too, so aesthetically speaking, this hub is also well done. I really like this and that said, I do have some small gripes. There are six controller hooks, but room for eight, and frankly eight makes sense since that would be the amount of controllers used locally for two consoles. There are only slots for 12 games as well, not too big a deal but I don't know a single gamer who only owns 12 games. Also, you can only stand up a 360 or PS3 on the shelves. There is no way to lay down your console. These are small gripes like I said because I like the hub as a whole, but for me it isn't perfect. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Well-made By Blink I really like this gaming hub! I have lots of gaming systems, so this really comes in handy. It isn't overly large, and it's sturdy and well-made. I needed a TV stand for my bedroom, and now, not only do I have a good, compact TV stand to put in front of my bed, I can also put my gaming systems in it and play. My husband put it together, and he said it was very easy to assemble. I also like how it has holders for your video games and movies on the sides. This gaming hub is good for apartments and saves a lot of space. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great product but has some faults. By Matthew I just set this piece up and I really like the look of it. It holds 6 controllers and 12 games. It has a sleek look to it and it is pretty sturdy. I did have a few complaints about it though. The instructions were very detailed and easy to follow but the actual set up of the product disappointed me. I found I was having to bend the metal bars in order to fit it to the screw slots and on one shelf I wasn't able to fit one of the screws into the slot because the alignment of the metal bar and the shelf were about half an inch off. I decided to just overlook it because I was able to fit the other 3 screws just fine. The controller holders just sit on a metal bar. I understand that they are free moving to accommodate different controller sizes, but I wish there was some way to fix them to one specific spot.
